Please stop pretending that abuse just happens and then the victim will be happy after a month or two.

Please stop pretending that abuse doesn’t effect people’s lives.

Please stop pretending that abuse is harmless and is “just a misunderstanding”.

Stop telling victims to just “move on”‘even if it’s been 10 years.

Stop pretending that the trauma of it doesn’t leave mental effects, even if they show up in the later years after the victim learned what had happened and fully understood it.

Especially stop telling children, or people who experienced abuse at a young age, to move on immediately.

Please stop.
